Questions and answers
Who is PITHIA for?
We are looking for pathologists, transplant clinicians and researchers to test the software and assess its annotations.
What does the software do?
It displays digital kidney biopsy images with model-generated annotations. These mark structures or regions of tissue for inspection. The research tools also let users run models on slides, compare their outputs and record dataset review decisions.
Is it ready for clinical use?
The current tools are for research and evaluation. We are preparing them for testing with clinical users to assess their accuracy and usefulness.
How does this relate to the PITHIA trial?
The original UK study investigated access to urgent, remote biopsy assessment before kidney transplantation. This project continues that work through software development and evaluation.
Do I need experience with AI?
No. We need clinical knowledge and feedback about using the software. You do not need to know how the models are built.
Are the images on this website real?
Yes. They are de-identified biopsy images approved for public use, shown with their matching research annotations.
